About Us

Touchstone Youth Centre is a 32-bed emergency shelter for 16 to 24-year-old homeless and at-risk youth. In addition to providing safe shelter, we address the many issues facing homeless youth by offering an employment program, housing help, a drop-in centre and an outreach worker.

1991-2011:
20 Years of Helping

August 2011 marks 20 years since we first opened our doors to Toronto's homeless and at-risk youth. Located at 1076 Pape Avenue, just east of Toronto's downtown core, we're staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing food, shelter, counselling, emotional support and a hug for the more than 3,600 youths that need us.

A look inside Touchstone

Our Stories

Young people arrive at Touchstone for a variety of reasons. Over 86% have suffered sexual, psychological or physical abuse in their young lives. More than 90% come from homes experiencing family breakdown.

Some have unsuccessfully tried to survive the intolerable conditions of the streets. Others are mentally challenged.

Some have nowhere else to go.

Pancakes with the G-Guides!

This year's Pancake Tuesday was led by the Girl Guides of 1st East York Trek Unit. Families from all over flocked the tables of Cosburn United Church as the event's leader, Madeline Dawson, gave direction to her team to, "Keep the syrup flowing!" And thank heavens for her initiative, the invite for 'all-you-could-eat' was not taken for granted.

All proceeds of this event will go towards the general operation of Touchstone Youth Centre.

Thank you 1st East York Trek Unit Girl Guides for...making a difference!
